Synopsis
<>pEffective EQS management and performance improvement is a fundamental prerequisite of global sustainability. As a result, all businesses whose activities (and products) have environmental and/or health and safety impacts will be required, whether by regulation, international trade requirements or public pressure, to track, report and improve EQS management performance. EQS managers currently tend to spend the majority of their time managing EQS information rather than improving EQS performance. The improvement of EQS information management should therefore be seen as of paramount importance or, at the very least, a first step in the right direction. To that end there are phenomenal opportunities to increase the efficiency of EQS management practices and improve EQS performance by the use of web and intranet technology. This will ultimately be recognised as both an essential component of corporate and global sustainability and a solution that will provide enormous short-term rewards as well as unparallelled and widespread long-term benefits for all stakeholders affected by EQS performance.
