Synopsis
Government is exerting pressure on businesses to make sustained environmental improvements to their waste management practices. Our study outlines the obstacles businesses may face when trying to make these changes. Save and Share is a pilot project that was devised to help businesses overcome difficulties that may otherwise stop them from implementing sustained environmental improvements. If substantial cost reductions can be delivered in a business waste management processes, then it is possible that waste management improvements can be carried out on a Save and Share basis. This means there is no consultancy fee for the business and the savings are shared with the consultancy. The first pilot Save and Share contracts were put into practice six months ago. This paper outlines the positive interim results of these pilot schemes.
