Synopsis

A long established geotechnical principle is to add other materials to soil to stabilise or improve its performance. A novel approach is to introduce randomly distributed fibres to soil generating a benefit to the whole soil mass. Research has demonstrated that the waste products arising from the manufacture of carpets can be utilised to generate an improved performance.
