Former U.S. Vice President and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Al Gore has taped an appearance on the hit NBC sit-com, "30 Rock," Zap2it.com reported.

Gore's episode is expected to air Thursday, but he taped his role before receiving the Nobel Prize recognizing his work for the environment.

"It was a question of calling in a lot of favors," co-executive producer Robert Carlock said. "He has some of the best comic timing. He hosted 'SNL.' He knows his way around a joke."

Former "Friends" star David Schwimmer also guest stars on the episode, playing an actor who becomes the face of GE's green initiative, Zap2it.com said.

"By not taking it too seriously, it is a way to bridge, for people who perhaps think of it is as a dry topic, and hopefully both the vice president and David can help show people it's not necessarily that," Carlock said.

As part of the "Green Is Universal" campaign, NBC shows airing from Nov. 4 through Nov. 10 will incorporate the environment into their scripts and plots, Zap2it.com said.
