Mr. Miller has more than 25 years of experience in science and technology, national security issues, waste management, energy and environmental systems. In the private sector, Mr. Miller was Director of Systems R&D, EG&G, Inc., and its successor Lockheed Martin Idaho Operations, while with the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory. In that capacity, he served as Science Advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary, Office of Science and Technology Development, Environmental Management, U.S. Department of Energy. In 1992, Mr. Miller was appointed Science Advisor, U.S. Delegation to the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the public sector, he held the position of Energy Advisor to the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy, Environment and Natural Resources, U.S. House of Representatives, and Executive Director of the Office of Technology Assessments Advisory Council, U.S. Congress. As a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army’s Medical Service Corps, the Army Reserve, he worked as an environmental scientist. Mr. Miller received an A.M., Biological Sciences and History and Philosophy of Science, The University of Chicago; M.A., History of Physics, Ohio State University; B.A., Ohio State University, Science Studies. While at the University of Chicago, he was a Doctoral Fellow in Biology in the Center for Urban Studies. Later, he was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland.
