Petrozyme Technologies Inc. (PTI) is a Canadian company with licensee offices in Venezuela, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. The company’s core competency lies in applied and environmental microbiology and it specializes in developing bioprocesses for the treatment of industrial waste streams.
Petrozyme was created in 1996 to develop technologies petroleum oily wastes generated during refining operations. Staffed with experienced and world renowned industrial microbiologists and environmental engineers with decades of international experience, Petrozyme has developed several proprietary processes and is holding US and Canadian patents for treatment of petroleum oily sludges, emulsions and contaminated soil. Petrozyme itself does not provide oily sludge or waste treatment services. PTI licenses these technologies to oil companies and environmental service companies involved in the management of oily sludges and contaminated soils. Petrozyme provides, start-up assistance, training and on-going technical support to its licensees.
In addition to developing and licensing their proprietary biological processes, scientists and engineers from Petrozyme have extensive experience in providing laboratory and on-site training in bioreactor development and operations.
Petrozyme also provides consulting services in the area of petroleum waste management, development of new and improved environmental processes for soil, water and air pollutants.
The PETROZYME PROCESS – a biological process for oily sludge treatment - has successfully treated oily sludge at oil refineries and terminals in Canada, the United States, Latin America, Middle East and Asia. The hazardous oily waste streams in these oil companies may include tank bottoms, API separator sludge, wastewater, sludges stored in lagoon in refineries and exploration and production sites, drilling waste and contaminated soil.
Petrozyme provides a range of environmental services in the following areas:
- Biological treatment of petroleum sludges
- Remediation of hydrocarbon-contaminated soils
- Oil recovery from oilfield emulsions and slop oils
- Biological process development
