CARStat- Environmental Statistical Monitoring Software
CARStat helps quickly and easily eliminate unnecessary site assessments and remediation due to common misapplication of statistical methods or simple comparison of measurements to regulatory standards. The most appropriate statistics for your site are automatically selected, avoiding those USEPA approved methods that result in excessive false positive and false negative rates. Site-wide false positive and negative rates are directly computed via Monte Carlo simulation.
Features
- CARStat is an easy to learn system for quickly performing state of the art environmental statistical monitoring analyses
- Complete analysis of all sampling locations, groups of locations and constituents with a single mouse click
- Statistical procedures balance both false positive (indicating the presence of contamination when there is none) and false negative (missing true contamination) rates for your entire facility
- Complete consistency with the USEPA Subtitle C and D regulations and all USEPA guidance documents
Statistical Features
- CARStat can compare onsite/downgradient data to background or regulatory standards or both
- CARStat computes confidence limits for means, medians, and upper percentiles of the onsite/downgradient distribution
- Normal, lognormal, and nonparametric confidence limits can be selected or automatically generated based on distributional testing
- Comparison to background is preformed using normal, lognormal, or nonparametric prediction limits for individual onsite/downgradient measurements or means
- Lognormal confidence and prediction limits for onsite/downgradient mean values are based on Land`s method
- Monitoring locations can be combined, analyzed, and graphed into Potential Areas of Concern (PAOC)
Operation
CARStat is an advanced statistical analysis and graphical display system. Data sets in most formats and of any size can be easily imported. The monitoring network is set by simply selecting locations (e.g. upgradient and downgradient wells or soil borings) and monitoring constituents. Your entire site is then analyzed with a single mouse click. CARStat automatically performs comparisons to background and to regulatory standards in both graphical and tabular formats showing all intermediate calculations. Appropriate confidence limits, prediction limits, distribution testing, treatment of nondetects, trend analysis, and outlier detection are automatically generated by the program.
CARStat`s Statistical Advantage
- The most appropriate statistics for your site are automatically selected, avoiding those USEPA approved methods that result in excessive false positive and false negative rates
- Site-wide false positive and negative rates are directly computed via Monte Carlo simulation
- Costly corrective action can be avoided through the use of better statistical screening in assessment and compliance monitoring
- CARStat can reduce the length of corrective action.
Uses
CARStat can significantly improve the productivity of engineers, environmental scientists, regulators and owner/operators of waste disposal facilities who want to:
- Use statistical methods for soil, ground-water, surface water and air assessment or corrective action monitoring
- Create professional graphical illustrations of their data
- Monitor the progress of a corrective action on ground-water quality
- Analyze large amounts of environmental monitoring data
- Comply with state and federal government regulations for ground-water, surface water and air monitoring at waste disposal facilities or other industrial related activities
- Avoid unnecessary remediation
- Demonstrate clean closure as expediently as possible
- Document the progress of natural attenuation
Anyone who needs to comply with state and federal regulations including:
- Automobile companies

EQuIS SOFTWARE
EQuIS is a modern system, written with modern tools. EQuIS has been in use for several years, as have several of the modules. EQuIS has been extensively tested and debugged. We believe that the vast community of EQuIS users are our best designers for our next products, and promote further innovation.
The EQuIS suite includes various high-quality environmental data management solutions. EQuIS is powerful enough to manage all of your chemistry, geology, and hydrology data. The EQuIS data warehouse provides a means where a single data point can be exported to industry standard tools.
EQuIS Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR)
EQuIS DMR is designed to manage the data and reporting requirements for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits. EQuIS DMR allows you to enter and maintain information about your facilities, permits, monitoring stations, and the permit parameters required to produce Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMR). DMR integrates with the EQuIS user system and thereby supports multiple DMR project database if needed. Each project database is structured to support multiple facilities with multiple monitoring stations per facility. Each monitoring station can be assigned to multiple NPDES report specifications for different report types / frequencies. Charting capabilities are included to facilitate the visual review of the sample result values.
