Model 602 Sludge Blanket Level Meter
The Model 602 Sludge Blanket Level Meter finds the sludge level in water and wastewater clarifiers, lamellas, settling tanks or any industrial process settling solids. The meter can be used to just read the sludge level or it can control the sludge level automatically.
Technical Advantages
Desludging by sludge blanket level control rather than suboptimal timers maximizes sludge density and minimizes the daily volume of sludge pumped. Markland`s laser-like infrared beam automatically adjusts its intensity to compensate for thick or thin sludges and is unique in that it can measure the sludge level in dissolved air flotation (DAF) tanks and inclined pate clarifiers (Lamellars). A microprocessor with advanced digital self-diagnostics greatly simplifies debugging. A graphics profile program gives a visual picture of settling at the sludge/liquid interface that is useful for coagulant dosage control or process adjustment. The patented Markland system is used in sewage treatment, drinking water purification and many industrial processes and wastewaters.

- Decant Control
- Anywhere a sludge or interface level needs to be measured
Sludge Level Control in Thick Sludge
Heavy sludge loading can overwhelm a timer controlled desludge pump allowing sludge to slip over the top, while the blanket level controller maintains the sludge level within the high & low set-points.
Sludge Level Control in Thin Sludge
Light sludge loading can allow a timer to pull a core hole and pump water out of the bottom. The blanket controller does not turn on the desludge pump until it is required,
And the sludge level is maintained within the high and low set-points.
