HAIGH ENGINEERING COMPANY LTD.

ACE Screeners
LISEP Packages
Haigh Sludge Macerators

  • High Performance screening & screening handling
  • Water Efficient with no washwater
  • Flexibility built in as standard Backed Up with Haigh product support
  • Ideal For Sewage Treatment Works & Waste Water Treatment

Haigh’s range of seven ACE Screeners cover inlet flows from 0-100l/s and are designed specifically for use in smaller waste water and sewage treatment works, typically populations up to 10,000.

Installation flexibility is a key attribute, allowing project designers to use an ACE Screener in virtually any situation; Retrofit into existing civil structures, new build channels, or as pipeline sections.

An ACE Screener is a combined screen and screenings handling plant, compliant to WIMES (Water industry mechanical and electrical specification). A perforated plate screen provides effective screening, screening washing followed by compaction using the unique LISEP / Lipactor.

Screeners make inlet screening for small works cost effective, not just during initial procurement but through the whole life of the Screener. Savings continue to accumulate as there are no wash water costs.

Engineers often use step screens where installed headloss is an issue, where headloss with spiral sieve screens is too high. But step screens offer limited screenings capture ratios. Engineers often use spiral sieve screens for higher capture rates than step screens or bar screens, but spiral sieve screens have limited screening effectiveness.

Haigh’s ACE Screener has proven very low installed headloss similar to, and often lower than step screens, and screenings capture rates higher than spiral sieve screens. Engineers can have both hydraulic and screening performance. Screenings are reduced by Liseps so bins are lighter and easier to handle. They are emptied less often and all done without washwater, washwater pumps, associated problems of reliability or the ongoing cost of potable water supply.

Benefits of ACE SCREENERS

Zero washwater - One of the great advantages of the ACE Screener is that it requires no washwater whatsoever. Often the cost of potable or piped in water is not included in the whole life cost of an installation, when up to 70 tonnes of water are used by some competitor products per day. The capital cost of a screener can soon be recovered.

Low volume screenings - Screenings are an unavoidable but unwanted by-product of sewage treatment so at Haigh we design our equipment to produce the minimum screenings residue by putting as much of the organic material back into the flow. The small amount of residual solids left over is then dewatered, compressed and dried.
The original screenings volume is reduced by over 95% so bin and skip use is considerably reduced.

Maximum organics returned to treatment – Organic material removed from the flow are a problem so ACE Screeners are designed to keep them there where they can improve downstream processes and limit residual solids to less than 5% of the original screened material. The resulting end product screenings are cleaner, lower in odour and are easier to dispose of.

Applications of ACE Screener

Problem - Bio Reactors not performing correctly due to organic starvation caused by poor screenings handling at headworks.
Solution - Install an ACE Screener which will wash and scrub out over 95% of organics and return them to the works where they belong to improve performance and final effluent quality.

Problem - Traditional compactors, with or without spray washing systems still put considerable volumes of faecal and other organics into skips or bins.
Solution - Liseps return over 95% of organics back to treatment, improving the quality of sludges and final effluent. It also means binned screenings are cleaner.

Problem - Compactors and washers are inflexible for remote siting of dewatering and solids separation.
Solution - ACE Screeners carry the solids in suspension via pipework up to 50 metres long allowing the most convenient positioning of the Lisep for collection and transport.

Sales and Service

Haigh has a UK wide dedicated sales force who specialize in knowing how to bring added value to your works such as reducing civil costs, eliminating washwater, and at the same time cutting screenings skip and transport costs. Your local Sales Manager will be pleased to discuss your particular requirements and options for Haigh equipment to suit your works. If you decide to proceed with a Haigh installation a dedicated Contracts Engineer will be appointed to your project to oversee it from start to finish. Most new or existing installations will also require some kind of design input for layout and services positioning and the in-house design team will produce bespoke drawings for approval. Additional Nationwide service backup is available to keep your installations working throughout its life at optimum efficiency. Service Contracts can be arranged to periodically check equipment and advice on preventative maintenance. We endeavor to keep your Haigh equipment working at optimum performance, cost effectively for years to come. Haigh has a purpose built factory with the latest technology. Computer aided design and three dimensional modeling is complemented by sheet steel laser cutters, precision folding and robotic welding.
