Hans Jensen began his career as a geophysicist and, following completion of his PhD, became a materials engineer. After becoming environment manager at a large power station, Jensen spent three years as National Power's negotiator with the environmental regulator. He is now responsible for environmental management, consent and the formulation and implementation of Innogy's internal market system in emissions.

Chris Harris's first industrial experience was in experiments in the desulphurisation of coal. Since completing his PhD in Metallurgy with the Central Electricity Generating Board, he has been a scientist, management consultant, quantitative analyst, financier and trader. For the last ten years he has been primarily involved in the commoditisation of materials and industrial processes, working with industry and governments.
