TraceTek Leak Detection and Locating Systems
Above Ground Storage Tanks
Above ground storage tanks hold a variety of dangerous fluids that may pose minor to very serious threats to the environment and the public. TraceTek Leak Detection Systems can monitor single steel-floor storage tanks for fuel leaks in Hazardous Areas at a low install and commission cost, with no system integration requirements. A simple visual leak indicator module begins to flash when the sensing cable detects a small developing leak.
Single Wall Buried Pipelines
The danger of environmental contamination and the potential repair costs of an undetected fuel leak along a pipeline can be astronomical.
TraceTek Leak Detection and Locating Systems can monitor miles of single wall buried pipelines for fuel leaks, provide a precise location of a small developing leak, close valves before it becomes catastrophic, and interface with a pipeline monitoring control center for notification.
Airport Hydrant Fuel System
Most modern airports depend on miles of direct buried fuel piping loops to distribute millions of gallons of fuel to airliners daily from the terminal aprons. An undetected fuel leak along the hydrant fuel system can be devastating to airport operations and the surrounding environment.
TraceTek Leak Detection and Locating Systems can be deployed here too.
Industrial Strength Leak Detection
TraceTek Technology:
Detect a spill, locate the source of the leak and take corrective action before an incident becomes a ``news story.`` The key is quick detection and accurate location at the source of the leak. TraceTek sensor cable and monitoring systems make it possible.
TraceTek Leak Detection Systems can operate as stand-alone independent alarm systems or they can easily be integrated with:
- SCADA system
- Factory Automation Systems
- Building Management Systems
- Distributed Control Systems
- Programmable Logic Controllers
A TraceTek Leak Detection System consists of Sensor Cable, Sensor Interface Modules and Alarm Panels. Additional sensor options include: float switches, point probes, pressure switches or any other sensor device that can provide a contact closure.
Instrumentation options include: low voltage / relay contact devices, instruments for hazardous locations, battery powered flashing light indicators, and other options tailored to the application.
Sensor cable suited to the task
- TT3000 for acids, bases and other hazardous fluids with water content
- TT5000 for gasoline, jet fuel, diesel, crude oil, lube oil and other hydrocarbon based liquids
- TT5001 for organic solvents
- TT7000 for strong acids and bases
Accurate leak location
- The entire cable is a sensor
- Leaks are reported to the nearest foot or meter with better than 0.1% precision
Direct Buried Applications:
Leak Detection and Monitoring for:
- single wall fuel pipe
- above ground storage tanks
- buried valves and fittings
TT5000 Fuel Sensor Cable is used to monitor the soil under and around fuel carrying pipes and tanks.
The TraceTek system detects and reports the location of a fuel spill before major damage can occur. Leakage rates far below the threshold of a SCADA
(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) leak detection system can be detected while contaminated soil is still measured in a few cubic meters rather than truckloads.
The intention is to detect a leak when the affected area is still small and easy to clean up, with a minimum of environmental damage.
Interstitial and Indoor applications:
TraceTek cable provides the flexibility to monitor long runs of pipe or a single valve box where visual inspection is difficult or impossible. Precise location reporting assists in rapid and accurate dispatch of emergency response teams.
Fast Fuel Sensor for Liquid Hydrocarbons
Leaking hydrocarbon fuels are extremely dangerous in an industrial environment.
Undetected fuel leaks lead to a high risk of fires or explosions. A slow leak that goes unnoticed can cause environmental damage and expensive clean-up and legal liability.
The TraceTek Fast Fuel Sensor has been developed to help plant managers address the safety and environmental risks associated with leaking fuel. The sensor is fast to react, accurate, and reliable with a low probability of false alarms. It can easily be reset and re-used even after multiple detection of leaks.
