Sofia. Bulgarian households will be faced with two new technologies after the EU said it requires a cut in emissions of greenhouse gases, 24 Chasa daily reported. One of them is using solar energy, the other one – planting hybrid water installations.
Businesspeople affected by the cut quotas of CO2 emissions will meet during the week with Environment Minister Dzhevdet Chakarov, the minister announced. ‘We will take all measures to protect the quotas we asked for from the EU for 2007 and for the period 2008 – 2012’, Chakarov promised. ‘I will pay a visit to Brussels and I will protect the Bulgarian stance’, he also said. ‘I want businesses to have enough CO2 emissions to avoid any price hikes’ he explained.
‘Bulgaria is ready to face the court if it comes to that, Minister Chakarov also noted to the Bulgarian National Radio.
Minister Chakarov will meet Thursday with businesspeople to discuss the issue. This is a necessary meeting, as such a decision on the part of the European Commission will affect all the sectors of Bulgarian economy, the minister concluded.
If Bulgaria loses the appeal, then the energy will be worst affected. That means low-emission NPPs such as Belene may not have a quota, experts explain. |
