Synopsis

In the summer of 2004, Health Canada released its new guideline on fungi in public buildings entitled, “Fungal Contamination in Public Buildings: Health Effects and Investigation Methods” . The Health Canada guideline continues to validate the need to conduct mold investigations and remedial efforts based on evidence of confirmed or potential health consequences. As mold investigation is still an evolving science, the investigator will continually need to rely on professional judgment when referencing some sections of the guideline and adopt practices that are based on the best available technology.
