Editorial

Environmentally friendly vehicles have been introduced in the automotive world before. But a big move in this direction was taken by Ford earlier this week. It has introduced the E-85 Escape, the very first E85 hybrid vehicle in the world. The vehicle relatively emits 25 per cent less carbon.

A global survey has reported that the number of industries requiring renewable and nuclear power has exponentially increased since last year.

The San Diego Gas and Electric Company has signed a contract with Envirepel Energy Inc. for renewable biomass energy. The pilot project, called Kittyhawk, is intended to meet the low emission standards mandated by the state.

For more updates, stay in touch with next week’s issue of Environment IDeaS.

Title Adapting to Climate Change in Developing Countries
Author Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology
Company Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology
Synopsis
The environmental and socio-economic impacts of climate change pose a serious threat to development and poverty reduction in developing countries. Tackling the causes of climate change and minimizing the consequences are inherently linked processes and are both essential. Building adaptive capacity to climate change may be achieved through the mainstreaming of climate risk into sustainable development strategies, however to do this successfully it is necessary to have awareness and understanding of climate change issues.
