TOXIC soil will be dug out of a mobile home site.
Residents at St Neots Mobile Home Park, Eynesbury, St Neots, have been told potentially dangerous chemicals lie beneath them.
Huntingdonshire District Council, which owns the site, is proposing a major decontamination programme. A total of 46 of 50 plots were found to be affected by chemicals in the soil as a result of the site being used as a claypit, brickworks and a landfill site in the past.
The council is proposing an 18-month "remediation strategy". An application has now been lodged with its development control panel to allow the work to begin.
It is believed the work will cost £437,000 - £400,000 of which is likely to be spent on temporarily re-housing residents.
