Sometimes other people being put at significant risk. There are legal, financial and ethical reasons why assessment of these risks should be properly conducted. There is also evidence to suggest that this is rarely the case. It is often assumed that experienced environmental consultants will be able to evaluate health and safety risks to themselves and others during site visits and act accordingly. In reality, their expertise is not necessarily always in occupational health and safety risk assessment, thus rendering this assumption fallacious. This paper will review the types of health and safety risks involved and the control measures that should be in force to minimise them. The review will also address the risks involved in driving to sites as well as those involved in working overseas as an environmental consultant.
