Novatek also provides separation techniques including the membrane separation technique and the biological separation technique.
MEMBRANE SEPARATION TECHNIQUE
The membrane separation technique consists of the membrane filter press, where the pumping pressure of the feed pump is performed by filling up the chamber system to a lower level compared to the traditional type. The membrane equipped elements will, after filling up, press the rest of the moisture out from the chambers. This method gives also very good possibility for cake washing.
CHAMBER FILTER
The chamber filter consists of the chamber filter press with filter elements equipped with cloth. The elements form a chamber system when closed together by a hydraulic unit. The suspended solids will be separated through the filter cloth when the slurry is pumped into the system by pumping up to 15 bar. Cake release is performed chamber by chamber moving them to a backward position.
BIOLOGICAL SEPARATION TECHNIQUE
The Novatek biological separation technique (RBC) is build up around a circular, seamless steel tube, with both ends fixed in spherical roller bearings. Around the shaft is biomedia constructed of corrugated plastic sheets with high specific area content, up to 210 m2/m3. The contactor rotates slowly (1-2 rpm), and during the rotation, organic matters are degraded due to the micro-organisms that develop on the biomedia surfaces. The required oxygen is absorbed during the passage above the water surface. The contactor has a simple technique with low maintenance costs.
